"First review I'm going is for a program, an app called THETA Poker, that's T-H-E-T-A Poker. It just made it into the App Store. This is not a free program. It will cost you four-ninety-nine in the App Store. I got a preview version a couple weeks ago, and I've been playing with it for a couple weeks now, and I really like it. For those of you that don't know or don't remember or I if I didn't mention it, I was in Vegas last weekend. It's one of the reasons there wasn't a show, well not this last weekend but the 20th, the reason that it went two weeks without a show. While there, I played poker in a casino from 9:30 at night til 5 in the morning, so yes I do like my poker. And this poker program on the iPhone is really good. I had the poker one on the iPod previously, which it was the only program I ever really bought for the iPod, so that tells you my feelings on poker programs, and I've played many different poker programs over the years, and I just, there's something about the THETA one I don't know if it's the fact that when you go to fold your hand, you actually just take your cards and you slide them into the deck (*), that kinda gives you a neat feel when you're folding. You tap 'em to check or you tap to call. It is a really nice interface, and the challenge of the game is very good. There are a lot of different levels if you're a beginner, you can start at the beginner levels. This is Texas Hold 'Em poker. You can if you want to raise you have your chips you can tap your chips to raise or you can take your chip and slide it in to go all-in, so it's the little things they did that are good. But again, to go back to the game play itself. I found it challenging. You've got a lot of different levels. If you play in a tournament at a home game or something like that, which is what I do the last Monday of every month. You play in a home game tournament where the top two people wind up going to the World Series of Poker. So for me this is important to have a good program, and I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't think this was a good program. So, THETA Poker, you can find it in the App Store that's T-H-E-T-A. If you're a serious poker player or if you're thinking about playing poker in home games or you're just losing your money and want to get a little bit better and need some practice without losing your money, THETA Poker's nice. You are playing against the computer, so you're not playing against other human beings. But the artificial intelligence that they have in this program is really good. Now the only downside I would see on this program, and this isn't from purist, this is more from someone who's looking from a flashy interface, is that it's not a flashy one. The one you get on the iPod had all these great graphics and da-da-da. Great graphics are nice, but they're no substitute for good game play, and to me, the gameplay is really well done, and the feel of the user interface itself as you're playing in the game, I thought it was very well done. The graphics, not so much. Gameplay, two thumbs up."
